Mechanical equipment suffering from bearing vibration, wear and lubrication loss, such as shafts and engines, can be repaired using an array of cold-applied materials. Among these, Belzona 1131 (Bearing Metal) will reduce friction at start up by trapping and holding lubricating oil. Bearing housing failures can be quickly repaired with fast-cure materials such as Belzona 1212, which is specifically designed for emergency repairs, reducing downtime.
Belzona epoxy repair composites and coatings provide outstanding chemical resistance against a wide variety of harsh chemicals for equipment including chemical storage tanks and leach tanks. For instance, coatings such as Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1) are ideally suited to protect secondary containment areas from contaminated chemicals and Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) is excellent for protection of equipment operating under continuous immersion.

The customer needed to repair small gouges across the full width of a bearing housing after the removal of a nodular iron bearing. The housing operates at temperatures up to 180°C (350°F), and while abrasion resistance was not required, the repair material needed to offer strong adhesion, withstand elevated temperatures, and be suitable for filling fine voids without a coarse aggregate interfering with the surface finish.
